Was an amateur naturalist, and forester in profession. Soon, however, he abandoned forestry, and moved to France, where he devoted himself to favorite biology, yielding even quite considerable notoriety as the author of „De omni re scibili”. In later years he married the widow of Justin Ignatius Małachowski - Marja nee Smukrowicz.
