George Sementovsky (88 years)

He was Professor of Piano at Temple University, a Concert Artist and Musicologist. He received diplomas from the Delvideki Konzervatorium, Hungary in 1944, under Sztankai Lajos; Mozarteum Musikhochschule, Salzburg in 1949, under Heinz Scholz, Juilliard School of Music, NYC 1953, under Rosina Lhevinne. And studied privately with Isabelle Vengerova from 1953-1956. George received a BA degree in Musicology from University of Pennsylvania in1958, under Constant Vauclain and was awarded the Hilda K. Nitzsche prize. Mr. Sementovsky received a teaching fellowship at Juilliard School of Music. He coached concert pianists and accompanists in New York and Philadelphia since 1953. Mr. Sementovsky was a Professor of Piano at the Esther Boyer College of Music, Temple University from 1964 until his retirement in 1996. George performed at the Chopin Memorial Concert, Mozarteum in 1949, and made his Town Hall debut, NYC 1959. George performed extensively in concert tours, lecture presentations and master classes in the US and Europe. Prof. Sementovsky judged many national and international competitions. He recorded “Sementovsky in Live Recital” for the Blue Jay Recording Co. in 1973.
